Welcome to the Poway Symphony Orchestra
In commemoration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday this season, the Poway Symphony Orchestra presented his Symphony No.9 on November 24, 2019. A community chorus joined the Orchestra as well as four soloists. The performance hall was sold out. It was a tremendous success. The video recording of it is available further down on this website.
The past year has seen other highlights, including the unforgettable concert in March with Fred Moyer as guest artist performing the piano concerto No.2 by Rachmaninoff. In that same concert the Orchestra played the sparkling Fantasy Overture Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky to great acclaim. And in May there was the Symphony No.7 by Beethoven and his Triple Concerto for violin, cello and piano performed by the Benefic Trio of Los Angeles. The trio offered as an encore, the last movement of a work by Shostakovich which was so thoughtful and sincere that an intense silence filled the hall, before a thundering applause.
The Poway Symphony Orchestra will present more concerts of great music in 2020 and thereafter. Announcements will be made soon. Our next concerts are on Sunday March 22, 2020 and on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
The Poway Orchestra thanks our many patrons and friends, and especially our donors and sponsors. Your contributions make our concerts possible.
All of us at the Poway Symphony Orchestra wish you the very best for a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
