The Poway Symphony Orchestra consists of community members, high school and college students, music educators, and professional musicians. These musicians, prospective and continuing orchestra members, must register through the Poway Adult School for the Orchestra class each term. Registration fees meet the expenses of conductor, facilities, administration and liability insurance.
Come and support classical music in your community. Join the Poway Symphony Orchestra. We offer a unique experience of playing in high quality level performances of a full orchestra including all instrumentation for the modern symphony orchestra. The group performs three times a year at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. You will be introduced to a wide variety of the standard symphonic literature. For major concertos the orchestra will be joined by accomplished soloists. Musicians should be able to play medium to advanced level of symphonic repertoire. Please contact the conductor (see the Contact page) for entrance into limited positions (woodwinds and brass). Especially needed are string players in all sections, and low brass players as well as percussionists depending on the program.

Regular rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7:15 PM to 9:15 PM in the Little Theatre/Music Room of Twin Peaks Middle School, 14640 Tierra Bonita Road, Poway. The rehearsal schedule conforms to the Poway Adult School Calendar and to the concert dates of the Concerts page above.
The rehearsal schedule is announced to all musicians at the beginning of each term or sooner by the Music Director. Details regarding a given rehearsal, for example, strings only, are communicated to performers by email.

For Ladies: Long (tea length or longer) black dress, long skirt and black top, or short sleeve top (no sleeveless). Black dress shoes and skin colored hose or stockings. Minimum of jewelry. Little to no perfume, please.
For Gentlemen: Black tuxedo or black suit. Short or long sleeve button-down white collared dress shirt with a black bow tie. No cummerbund is required. Black jacket is worn on stage. Black dress shoes with black socks. Little to no cologne, please.
